Doug Harler recently sent me this photo of Allan Herridge performing a flame burnout in the Santa Pod fueler 'Firefly'. This picture was sent to Doug by Allan inside a Christmas card. Bootsies message in the card proclaimed that this was his 'latest trick'.
Allan was the first person in the UK to attempt a flame burnout. It happened at Santa Pods G Max Grand Trophy meeting in October 1972 and the following run produced the fastest terminal speed outside the USA at that time, 218mph coupled with a 7.51 second elapsed time
